Break It Down Show

Jon Leon Guerrero, AND Pete A. Turner, talk with artists, authors, musicians, filmmakers, warriors, athletes and creators about their processes, challenges, origins, relationships that influenced their work, and what brings them to the place where they perform at their peak.

336 - Joe Luttwak

Ekoa Magic - Today's guest is Joe Luttwak CEO of Lingrove and Black Bird Guitars. Joe's first company Blackbird Guitars was a proving ground for a new construction material. The material Joe and his team created is called Ekoa. Ekoa is essentially a bio-composite consisting of Flax fibers and resins.  The strength of Ekoa exceeds that of steel, yet it's lighter than carbon-fiber. After guitars, Joe created Lingrove a company that's partnering with manufacturers to develop light weight, carbon sequestering products that will ease our burden on the planet, yet also look incredible.

335 - Bob Dvorchak

Bedouin Bob - Bob Dvorchak has been an author/writer for 50+ years. He's interviewed Muhammad Ali, he's written about the Korean war, Jeffery Dahmer and now about his time working with the 3-82 of the 82nd Airborne. Coincidentally, Pete also worked with the 3-82 in Baghdad. In this episode, Bob and Pete exchange notes on combat, stories and what it takes to get through the hardest moments in life.  Bob is a Tactical 16 author, be sure to support Bob's work by clicking here.

334 - Chris Merrick Hughes

Big Ant - Chris Merrick Hughes list of acts he's worked with is deep. Let's just cover two of them...he produced Tears for Fears, Songs From the Big Chair, which featured world-wide hits Shout and Everybody Wants to rule the world. Chris also talks about working with Adam Ant and his time drumming as an Ant.  Spin Chris' new album Eirenic Life on Spotify

333 - REM vs B52s (#AlbumFight)

Cosmic Athens - The B52s get in the ring with their album Cosmic Thing to take on fellow Athens GA band, REM and their 1989 album Green. Each of these albums represent each groups elevation from regional act to world-wide phenomenon.  Green promises Orange Crush will demoralize the B52s fun time party rock...while the quirky Cosmic thing dares the sullen boys to withstand their siren's call in: Roam, Topaz and Love Shack. One thing left to do...ring the bell.  Thanks to this week's Judges: Pete as Host, Brian Theis as Co-host and also co-hosting while doing double duty as analyst is Richard Lackie. Phil Green does our corner announcements and Brad Hutchings delivers our album art. LET'S GET READY TO RAMBLE!!!

90: Jonathan Haidt | The Danger of Good Intentions and Safe Spaces

Jonathan Haidt (@JonHaidt) is a social psychologist who studies the American culture wars and is widely considered to be one of the world's leading experts on the psychology of morality. He is the co-author of The Coddling of the American Mind: How Good Intentions and Bad Ideas Are Setting Up a Generation for Failure. What We Discuss with Jonathan Haidt: Why should we be preparing the child for the road and not the road for the child? How the concepts of safe spaces and trigger warnings are making our society less safe and less prepared for the real world. What we should be doing instead to prepare ourselves and our kids for reality. Cognitive distortions and how we become victims of our own flawed mindsets. The three fundamental untruths being perpetuated by academia and the media and how we can fight these influences. And much more... Have Alexa and want flash briefings from The Jordan Harbinger Show? 89: Feedback Friday | How to Get a Raise at Your Dream Job

Jordan Harbinger (@JordanHarbinger) and Jason DeFillippo (@jpdef) banter every week and take your comments and questions for Feedback Friday! If you want us to answer your question, register your feedback, or tell your story on one of our upcoming weekly Feedback Friday episodes, drop us a line at friday@jordanharbinger.com. Now, let's dive in! On This Week's Feedback Friday, We Discuss: You need to increase your salary so you can adequately provide for your family, but you're not sure your current employer will go for it. Is it time to let go of your dream job? How can you ease the overwhelming loneliness of being on your own for the first time when you're anxious and miss your old life -- especially when the job that moved you to the big city just isn't as interesting as it used to be? Can a man from a blue collar background and a woman who grew up used to the finer things in life build a life together that allows him to feel like a provider without disappointing her expectations? When you're the youngest in a family business that isn't doing so well, how can you tell the other partners -- who once were your mentors and idols -- to level up their mindset and work ethics or else everything will crash and burn? Or is it just time for the family business to crash and burn? What should you do about this habit you have of talking over people? How can you promote yourself without, in weatherman parlance, sending the eye-rolling barometers into the storm zone? How can you learn to have a fluid conversation with people when you're constantly feeling less than? Recommendation of the Week: Zion Quick shoutouts to Simon from Montreal and Timm! This is part two of a two-part episode. Check out part one here! What We Discuss with Charles Ryu: The risky train ride that began Charles' escape to freedom. How the swift current of a freezing river likely saved Charles' life. What Charles did once he got to China with no money, food, or water. The chance encounter with a good samaritan and the circuitous path that led to the United States. Why winding up in a Thai prison was the best day of Charles' life up to that point. And much more... 87: General Michael Hayden | National Security in an Age of Lies

General Michael Hayden (@GenMhayden) is a retired United States Air Force general, former Director of the CIA and NSA, and author of The Assault on Intelligence: American National Security in an Age of Lies. What We Discuss with General Michael Hayden: Why the current administration revoking security clearance of dissenting intelligence leadership is a big deal -- and why General Hayden believes it sets a precedent that threatens national security. The phenomenon of the unpleasant fact knows no political allegiance. Why it's imperative that we know how to tell uncomfortable truths in any field -- whether we're intelligence agents, business owners, or team members. How intelligence agents and operators at the highest levels of power in government create and maintain relationships and handle sensitive conflicts. An inside look at the game of espionage and why it's a crucial force for those of us who live in a democracy. And much more... Have Alexa and want flash briefings from The Jordan Harbinger Show? Dillon and Dutch Metal Detecting

We are treasure hunters, we are adventurers,...we are the future.

Season 11: Episode 1 Daniel Craig’s Best Line From The Movie Munich

Somewhere in all the hoopla, in all the chest beating, all the minutiae, our intrepid warriors Dillon and Dutch fell on hard times. We were in a rut, no place to go, no purpose in our lives per se, and also in the literal sense. It took us to depths you could never understand. While DJing for a barmitzvah, we were approached by a man who gave us a great idea, the kind of idea that only occurs once in most humans lives, but actually happens to us all the time, mostly because we are better than you in almost all ways imagineable. Listen this season as the world’s most humble duo ignites a firestorm the likes our prey had never seen before.
